Glass drilling

Glass Drilling

After the cutting and finishing of glass, the glass drilling is performed, when necessary.

The process must take into account certain aspects which are absolutely compulsory:

- the bore diameter, ø, must not be smaller than the nominal thickness of the glass. For smaller bores you must contact the producers.

Restrictions regarding the bore location

In general, the restrictions regarding the bore location in relation with the glazing edges, glazing corners and all these aspects in relation with each other, depend on:

- the nominal thickness of the glass(d)

- dimensions of the glass foil (B,H)

- bore diameter ( ø),

- glazing shape,

- number of bores

The recommendations indicated below are those normally available and they are limited to the glass foils with a maximum number of 4 bores.

10 Distance, a, between the edge of a bore and the edge of the glass foil must not be smaller than 2d (image)

2) Distance, b, between the edges of two bores must not be smaller than 2d (image)

3) Distance, c, between the edge of a bore and the glass corner must not be smaller than 6d (image). If one of the distances between the bore edge and the glass edge is smaller than 35mm, it is possible that the bore must be located asymmetrically as to the corner. You must contact the producers.
