Laminated tempered glass, tempered glass, support in specific design

The set of railing panels for the entire Sun Plaza complex included both flat and curved parts; the flat panels, with variable widths and constant height, were fastened on one side on the stainless steel stringers and on the other side on the concrete structure of the floor, by bolting elements. The wooden handrail, fastened on the glass flat panels assures, together with the stainless steel stringers and the laminated tempered glass, the safety absolutely necessary for such a commercial center with so many visitors.

In the central area, the empty space incorporating the escalators was delimited by curved railings, and the handrail was fastened on the lateral side, towards the interior. The bolting system was the same as for the flat railings, the difference being that for the curved railings, the distance from the glass panels to the floor was larger.

The technical assistance provided by Glass Expert within this project included the provision of solutions, the elaboration of the technical documentation regarding the bolting systems in the concrete structure and the set-up of metal structures both for stringers and for the hidden bolting system.

The newelled staircase, made up of smaller panels than those used for the central space and with different curve radius represented a success in terms of execution and timely completion. The Glass Expert experience in the laminated and tempered glass industry was extremely important in this project. The collaboration between the technical, production and assembly teams assured the coherent and correct performance of the entire glass structure for this staircase.

The limitations imposed by the concrete structure or by the materials necessary for the mounting of the stainless steel structure made us find different technical solutions, varying even on distances of a few meters.
